This week our assignment was to set up lights and render our scene from the previous weeks.
My timetable for the week was planned like this:
Monday 14-16: Find inspiration and create a moodboard
Tuesday 14-17: Set up the camera and play with lighting
Wednesday 14-18: Decide on lighting and start getting good renders
Thursday 14-18: Finalize lighting and rendering

Drawing
We did some more drawing this week, focusing on using our creative library. We were first tasked with trying to draw an ant and then went over to drawing other random things like hats, buildings, fire hydrants etc.
We also saw a video of someone doing step by step drawing of a flying plane and were tasked to follow the same procedure.
Moodboard
Since my environment was heavily inspired by a Hobbit-hole from The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit, I mainly looked at pictures depicting exactly that. One of my goals with this was to find both dark and well-lit rooms, to get an idea of how to balance that out.
Color balance is something we've been focusing on this week, and I tried to use complementary colors when lighting the scene this week. Making the lighting feel warm and welcoming was a big part of getting the atmosphere right. Since I chose to go with a cold blue from the window landing on the floor it was important to me to get a warm color to use with the candles. Because of this I chose to use a color wheel to pinpoint what colors look best together in my scene, since using the wrong color combination can really do more bad than good.
Final render
I am really happy with how this scene turned out although now in hindsight I think I should have increased the lighting on the desk in the background so it would light that part up more and use as a point of focus in the scene. I did learn a lot this week that I will be able to use in future assignments, so I've got that going for me, which is nice!
